Over the last 18 yrs Dr. Sell has conducted university-sanctioned research on topics ranging from mice to maples to moose, from Michigan to New Mexico to Montana. In particular, his expertise is in big game/habitat relationships relative to nutrition and vegetation composition, structure, and succession. He has conducted such research on white-tailed deer, mule deer, moose, and caribou – including multi-year radio telemetry studies on both white-tailed and mule deer. Currently, he is conducting research for the University of Minnesota and National Park Service related to the dynamic trophic relationships between moose, wolves, and forest vegetation on Isle Royale National Park, MI.

Hunting Land Experts believes that what makes Dr. Sell unique is that not only does he have a vast knowledge of plants and animals from a scientific standpoint, but he also has extensive hunting experience – being an accomplished traditional archer and big game, upland bird, waterfowl hunter. Because a majority of Hunting Land Experts' clients are particularly interested in quality deer management, we recognize Dr. Sell's expertise as an invaluable asset to us and our clients. For example, Dr. Sell employs his educational background and hunting experience to develop land management plans that simultaneously increase deer herd quality, manipulate deer movements and increase the probability of harvesting mature bucks.

Specifically, he designs habitat management plans to magnify overall deer use and movements within the our QDM cooperative properties, as well as within individual landowner properties. In addition, he employs strategies that help manipulate deer travel corridors in order to position deer such that they are vulnerable to harvest by bow or gun hunters. It is important to note that Dr. Sell can also suggest management approaches that can enhance the quality and quantity of other wildlife species presently occupying a give property- for hunting and/or viewing purposes. For example, such species may include squirrels, rabbits, songbirds, grouse, turkeys, etc. Hunting Land Experts advocates land management planning in all of its hunting land projects. We believe that by enhancing individual adjacent properties, the overall quality, and thus value, of the properties within that area increases exponentially.
